Mission Statement
The Social Work Service at St Vincent de Paule Residence offers residential social work focusing on the social needs of the residents while assuring their well-being.
The Service
This social worker service is offered to:
- Elderly residents at St. Vincent de Paule.
- Residents with a disability at St. Vincent de Paule.
- Elderly residents staying at St. Vincent de Paule for respite.
- Relatives and carers of residents at St. Vincent de Paule
Residents can make use of the service by referring themselves and requesting the intervention of a social worker. Referrals may also be received from professionals working at St. Vincent de Paule such as Consultants, Doctors, Nurses, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists and Psychiatrists, from relatives / carers, as well as social workers from any other service.
Aims and Objectives
The aims and objectives of this service are:
- To serve as a point of reference to residents at St. Vincent de Paule.
- To help residents adapt and adjust in the residence.
- To identify problems of a social nature faced by residents together with their families / carers.
- To motivate and empower residents to cope with their social problems whilst continuing to live an active and independent life as much as possible.
- To provide the necessary support in ongoing research projects as initiated by the residence.
- To participate in internal committees empowering the residents' rights.
