Children's Services BulletLooked After Children : Weekend Monitoring Service

Mission Statement

To support and monitor children under a Care Order when they are visiting their parents during weekend, with the aim of ensuring their safety and well being and to help them build a better relationship with their families.

The Service

The service offers trained staff who is specifically appointed to monitor children during their weekend visits at home. The visits, generally surprise visits, are aimed at offering security to the children, monitor their behaviour while at home and help them build a positive relationship with their parents and guardians. This is provided as part of a holistic care plan to children. Regular written feedback is provided by the weekend monitoring worker to the key social worker. This feedback helps the key social worker to plan access and contact between the child and his/her family.
