Community and Generic Services BulletGeneric Services - Generic Social Work Service

Mission Statement

The Generic Service aims towards delivering a comprehensive social work service in a sensitive fashion that is able to meet the diverse needs of any individuals or families that may require social work intervention but whose needs cannot be met by a specialized service.

The Service

Over the years, a considerable number of specialised services were introduced. However, some individuals and families faced situations which could not be addressed by one particular service. Many families face issues regarding their children's upbringing because of difficulties in their behaviour or because of a low level of skills from the parents. They may face health problems, complex problems in the family dynamics, problems regarding unemployment, financial problems, housing and other such difficulties which make families more vulnerable and needing adequate support. This support could not be provided by specialised services. This is why the Generic Service aims to response to these needs.

Made up of a team of generic social workers, the Generic Service provides individuals or families social work support and intervention as long as they accept the service and agree to work in partnership with the social worker assigned.
